GMP stands for ‘Good Manufacturing Practice’, meaning sound – or, in other words, safe – manufacturing practices. GMP guidelines are designed to ensure the quality of production processes and environments. They are primarily applied in the manufacture of medicines, active pharmaceutical ingredients, food and feed, and cosmetics.
Ursa-Chemie GmbH holds GMP certification for the manufacture of cosmetic products in accordance with the requirements of the European Cosmetics Regulation. The standard DIN EN ISO 22716, known as Cosmetics GMP, “Cosmetics – Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) – Guidelines on Good Manufacturing Practice”, specifies the requirements for the manufacture of cosmetic products, e.g. in terms of hygiene, premises, equipment, documentation and controls. In other words, it is a set of guidelines designed to reliably regulate the product flow from receipt to dispatch – including manufacture, monitoring, storage and documentation. GMP certification serves as proof of compliance with this standard for authorities and customers. During the certification process, an audit is carried out by an independent third party to verify that the manufacture of cosmetic raw materials complies with these requirements.
Manufacturing in accordance with GMP requirements therefore places particular demands on both the facilities and the quality management system. Ursa-Chemie therefore has its own dedicated GMP production area. This is where we manufacture products with heightened purity requirements. Electronic process controls ensure consistent quality results – even under difficult conditions. In addition, we carry out comprehensive testing and documentation of all raw materials, processes and finished products, alongside our uncompromising quality management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001.
